Diana Khramina is co-founder of Praxis, a Y Combinator company building AI-native practice management for solo and small firms. Praxis plugs into your email, calendar, and Drive, then runs intake, conflict checks, engagement letters, and invoicing as agent workflows. In a live demo she and her co-founder, Maxence Guegnolle, walked us through the product and showed us some pretty low-stakes automations AI could run soup to nuts. We took on some other topics too:

  1. Get a new lead from first email to booked consult in a few minutes. In the demo, a lead named Sarah emailed about an MSA review for a hospital network. Praxis drafted a reply offering times from Diana’s preset consult hours, wrote a qualification report against the firm’s intake rules, and ran a conflict check against current and past matters. When Sarah booked, both sides got calendar invites.

  2. Send the engagement letter and the invoice right after the consult. Praxis filled in the firm’s own engagement letter template with the client’s name, email, matter type, and fee (flat or retainer), and drafted an invoice to go with it. Send both together and your client signs and pays in one sitting. Once the invoice clears, Praxis opens the matter and moves the lead over to client.

  3. Is Clio going anywhere? Praxis wants to replace Clio for small firms eventually. It already has a client portal plus a matter and document layer tied to Google Drive that sorts and renames your files. Some customers send lead data from Praxis into Clio today and keep matter management and billing there. Diana isn’t asking anyone to move everything over on day one, but it may be a consideration down the road.

  4. What about payments? Brian asked about payments, trust versus operating accounts, and firms with several bank accounts. Maxence said Praxis is building a LawPay-style billing provider so retainers and invoices stay compliant, with bank connections through Plaid. Praxis already works with QuickBooks for firms that keep their own books and hand taxes to a CPA. Timekeeping still runs on a manual timer for now, and Diana wants automatic time capture only once her team can build it without invasive screen recording.

  5. How can HeyCounsel members try it out? Praxis values the input of our community and is offering 50% off the first 3 months, then 20% off for months 4-12. Implementation is included, meaning they’ll assist with data transfer and integration setup. Email [email protected] for more info.
